More 'New Moon' Soundtrack Details Revealed

Sep 17, 2009 by Arre | 32 Comments
One song has already been unleashed, as Death Cab for Cutie unveiled their contribution "Meet Me on the Equinox" on MTV.com during Sunday's VMAs. The full track list will be announced Friday, but there are already more details emerging about the album, due out October 20.

Music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas told The New York Times that she was "confident" the soundtrack would include already-rumored tracks from Radiohead's Thom Yorke, wintry indie folker Bon Iver and British alt-rockers Band of Skulls. Citing "group representatives," the Times also asked about rumors that the Killers and Grizzly Bear would have songs on the soundtrack, but Patsavas would not comment on either band.

She did talk about the album's thematic elements, though, explaining that it would be married to the film much closer than the "Twilight" soundtrack was. "This is a much more somber movie than 'Twilight,' " Patsavas said. "There is a lot of love lost, so the artists that are going to make up the soundtrack reflect that longing — a lot of acoustic instruments, a lot of a cappella singing."

In addition to premiering the Death Cab song, MTV News confirmed on Sunday that Muse were finalists for making the "New Moon" soundtrack. Following the inclusion of their "Supermassive Black Hole" in the "Twilight" album, this which would make them the only band to appear on both movies' soundtracks.

Peter Facinelli shares a key 'New Moon' line -- but not in character

Sep 11, 2009 by Arre | 4 Comments
I have a strange job sometimes. A good example is an idea I had recently for the "Twilight" fans, where we'd ask the stars of "New Moon" to go beyond the trailers and give us a preview of their favorite lines of dialogue that we haven't seen. Innocent and fun, right?

Sure enough, actors like Ashley Greene and Jamie Campbell Bower jumped at the opportunity and had a blast with it. But when it came time to ask our old friend and Cullen patriarch Peter Facinelli, he made the very valid point that actors aren't trained monkeys who can just do a silly little dance whenever we throw a nickel in the tin cup.

Larry Carroll: We've been asking your co-stars to give us their favorite "New Moon" line in character. Can you do yours?

Facinelli: No. [Laughs.] Then, you gotta pay me. If I'm gonna act, you better pay me, Larry Carroll!

Carroll: All right, we'll take down your address and have every fan send you a quarter.

Facinelli: You know, I don't even know if I can do Carlisle on the spot like that.

Carroll: Really?

Facinelli: No. That takes time and preparation.

Carroll: Well, we certainly don't want to reduce you to a Vegas-like thing. Like you're doing an Elvis imitation.

Facinelli: [Laughs.] No, no. Really, in order to play those roles, you have to get into the whole spirit of the character. I have to have on my white makeup and my contact lenses, otherwise it just doesn't work. Otherwise, it looks like Peter Facinelli trying to play something; it's weird. But I could say that's one of my favorite lines from "New Moon": "Like everything else in life, I just had to decide what to do with what I was given." But that's me saying it, not Carlisle. [In "New Moon"] Carlisle says it, and it's very Carlisle-esque.

New Moon trailer includes more Edward, more Volturi

Sep 11, 2009 by Arre | 3 Comments
Fans asked and Summit Entertainment has delivered. The second full-length "New Moon" trailer contains everything the first teaser trailer and the "Meet Jacob Black" trailer have not: more Volturi, more werewolves and more visions of Edward. The newest trailer is being shown before screenings of "Sorority Row" (out today), but an extended version will also be exclusively shown at the VMAs on Sunday, presented by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

The element that will probably get the most people excited is the inclusion of Dakota Fanning as the evil vampire Jane (only briefly glimpsed in the last trailer), who has the power to create illusions of pain. The new trailer opens up with a shot of her in Volturi garb and then shows the rest of the Volturi guard before revealing Michael Sheen's Aro — the head of the Volturi — snapping a poor human's neck.

The trailer then hits lightly on Edward breaking up with Bella and the heartbreaking shot of her lying bereft on the forest floor. But it quickly moves on to Bella seeing a vision of Edward with his car at Forks High, and then we see Jacob comforting her after the fact. One of the locations the twosome are sitting at is the movie theater in the scene Mike Welch and Taylor Lautner fought so hard to keep in the film.

'Chance to Win Midnight Sun' is a hoax

Sep 11, 2009 by Arre | 3 Comments
It has come to my attention through several concerned emails that many popular websites like MySpace and Facebook are displaying ads offering a chance to win Midnight Sun. This is a hoax. I would advise against giving out any personal information or even clicking on the links.
